JoyceDeWitt started her stage career at age 13. At the age of 13 years old, Dewitt began to perform on stage. She graduated with an undergraduate degree from Ball State University. The director encouraged her to enroll in UCLA's Department of Theater MFA program. There she received the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship and the Clifton Webb Scholarship. While attending UCLA, she worked as a secretary, completing her first appearance on television on the show's episode Baretta.Contrary to rumors that she was guided by actor Abe Vigoda, Dewitt has said that the two did not meet. DeWitt's role as Janet Wood in Three's Company's 1977-1984 run is her most famous. She was selected for the pilot of the show and was offered the role. Janet was also a part of the episode of The Ropers in the year 1979. DeWitt made her acting debut in an episode of 1984 of Three's Company. She made her return to the stage in the month of June in 1991 when she was a performer on a Noises Off production at Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse. The actress also was a part of Spring Fling, a 1995 TV comedy. Pinky and the Brain aired an episode in 1997 that featured an actress who was based on her. The voice was performed partly by another actress. She was also in an episode of Cybill. [6] Some of her television shows from the 2000s include Hope Island and The Nick at Nite Holiday Special as well as Call of the Wild.
